Little McKay

Our sweet little McKay decided to join our family July 23rd at 12:53am.  He is a healthy, happy little boy weighing in at 7.10 lbs and 20 in.  Little bits and pieces of him remind me of my other two kids but overall he has his own sweet little look.  Carter and Hayden have been loving on him like crazy this past week.  Hayden's love is a little rough, with constant eye pokes, and fingers in his mouth, but at least it's love, right?  We are adjusting to life with 3 and being outnumbered.  If only moms grew 2 new arms with each baby they had.  haha!  (That would be weird, but super helpful.)  I love love love the newborn baby stage and hate that it passes so quickly.  So we're soaking in and enjoying every minute we can.  Here's Mckay's birth story.....
I went in for my 39 week checkup.  While there my doctor told me I was dilated to a 3.  I had been having little contractions every now and then for a couple days so I was hoping those were doing something.  While at my appointment my doctor asked if I wanted my membranes stripped just to help get the process going.  Yes, please!
I went home and about 3 hours later the contractions started picking up.  By 7:00 that evening they were about 5 minutes apart.  I told Kev it was go time!  Kev's mom came to our house to watch our kids and we headed to the hospital.  The nurses got me hooked up to all the monitors and then we waited.  By midnight I was dilated to an 8 and having frequent and strong contractions.  I got an epidural, ohhhhh how that changes everything, and was able to relax and get ready to meet my little boy.  At 12:50 I started pushing and pushed for about 2 minutes until McKay arrived.
There is no feeling in the entire world like meeting your child for the first time.  I would have 100 babies just to experience that feeling over and over.  It is the most miraculous, spiritual, overwhelming feelings ever.  Bringing one of Heavenly Fathers children into this world is the most humbling and incredible experiences.
We love our little McKay so much and are excited for the adventures ahead with 3 crazy kiddos.

McKays first moments of life...outside the womb.

Carter and Haydens first time meeting McKay.  They've been waiting a long time for McKay to "come out of mommy's tummy", so they were super excited.

Carter kept pointing to all of McKays body parts saying, "Awww look how sweet his ears are. Look how tiny his nose is.  Look how cute his toes are."  He's an awesome big brother.

Going home!

Snuggling/suffocating baby bro.

I love watching these 3 interact.  Carter is very gentle and loving and Hayden thinks it's fun to tickle McKay. (half the time she's tickling his bassinet, not him).
