Kev and I feel so blessed to live close to this amazing temple that was dedicated a couple weeks ago. The Gilbert Temple is beautiful and SO BIG. It is the biggest temple the church has built in over 20 years. It was fun to watch the youth in our ward get to participate in the Temple Cultural Event for our prophet, Thomas S. Monson, the day before he dedicated it. It was also amazing to see how many people (members and non-members) went through the Open House the months prior to its dedication. There was lots of good local media attention, and a lot of people came to see what Mormon temples are all about. What a great missionary opportunity. The Lords work is going forth throughout all the world and it's fun to be a part of it.
12,000 youth in the Gilbert area performed for our prophet. Lots of work and rehearsals went into pulling this off.
If you're curious about temples and why Mormons build them, check out this video from our church.
