He's here! Carter Kevin Sagers joined our family last Wednesday, February 29th. Yep, born on Leap Day. Random fact of the day: A person born on Leap Day is sometimes known as a "leapling", and the chance of being born on leap day is 0.068%. Anyways, here's how his big day went. My doctor set up the 29th for me to get induced (1 day before my due date). I think he could tell I didn't want to be pregnant ANY LONGER! We went in Wed. morning and they gave me a little pill called Cytotec to soften my cervix. Shortly after I started having contractions. The contractions started getting stronger and more frequent and sooner than they had anticipated I was dilated enough to get the epidural. Thank goodness!!!! I can't even explain the wonders of that epidural. Those contractions were HORRIFIC and the epidural made a night and day difference for the delivery. Soon enough I was ready to push. I pushed for about 40 minutes and then Carter entered the world. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz and 20 inches long. One of Kevs professors was our doctor so he was showing/teaching Kev about all the tests and stuff they do on the baby. It was a lot of fun for Kev and a great learning experience. We just love this little guy so much and can't get enough of him. He's only 3 days old and has already brought us more happiness than we could have ever imagined. We feel so blessed and are so grateful to have him in our little family.

ReplyDeleteI AM SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! I have been waiting and waiting for an update. Jordan and Kevin don't really exchange very many details. "How's the kid?" "So great." "Awesome." You know how it goes. I am so happy that your labor was fast and the epidural brought you relief and most importantly that you have the sweetest little munchkin to have and to hold =)

Thanks for the pictures! He's so precious. I can't believe how tiny he looks in that car seat. As I sat and looked at the picture of Kevs holding his son, I had flashbacks of being in the basement and a freshman or sophomore in high school Kevs showing me how big his muscles were getting, or giving a more grown up Kevin a huge hug in the airport when he got home from his mission. And now you're a father. I love it!
