My attempt at being crafty

Since moving out here and joining the SAA (basically a club for the wives of the med students) and seeing how talented and crafty so many girls are, I have been trying to dive into my inner craftiness. And lets face it, I had to dive DEEP! But I have managed to learn a lot from friends, relief society and, well.....pinterest has helped out a little. Here are some things I've been up to lately.

In my sewing club we learned how to make these reversible headbands. I hadn't sewed since 8th grade sewing class so making these was a good start for me. Next time we're making pillows. I"m so excited!

I made this homemade applesauce yesterday. I got the recipe from a relief society activity. It turned out really good although I only tasted a little bit because I want to save the applesauce and make applesauce pork chops this Sunday for dinner. Yum!

Kev slicing up the apples.
Playing with the apple skins.
Apple slices on our noses.
Yummy applesauce!

The other night at craft night we made really cute Halloween crafts. I made this Halloween wreath. Super duper easy and really fun. I didn't know making wreaths was so simple.

A couple weeks ago I really just wanted to try and paint something. Something really simple. I saw this cute idea on pinterest and thought, what the heck, i'll give it a try. I'm not sure what it is, a tree with polka dots on it I guess. Kev was really sweet and said we should hang it up in the living room. Ummm, that's ok. We'll probably end up hanging it in the babies room. haha!

My two two sister-in-laws (Becca and Jackie) are really good at crocheting. They can make way cute stuff, so I thought i'd teach my self and make a simple hot pad. Needless to say, it didn't turn out too awesome but practice makes perfect right?
Maybe someday i'll be able to make something awesome like this...uhhh, we'll see.
The other night Kev and I went to the city auction and bid on this old fashioned bassinet. We won it for way cheap. Yay!!! Now my task is to fix it up and sew some sort of cute covering on it. If you have any suggestions let me know. I'm definitely stumped on this one.

  2. Love all the crafting! I think mommydom make everyone want to get their craft on.

The bassinet is super cute too! Just make sure you line the sides with something breathable. I know I'm probably being paranoid, but it can be a SIDS risk if it's too fluffy.

PS I think you should put that paint project somewhere where people can see it. It looks way fun. Look at you all crafty. I have a loooonnnng way to go there. Homemade applesauce is so yummy! Way to go.
