What we've discovered

Here are a few things Kev and I have discovered while living in the midwest......

-Cicadas are super annoying
-Fresh fruits/vegetables from the farmers market really do taste better
-It's weird seeing Amish people shopping at Wal-Mart
-You can actually find good stuff at yard sales.
-It's hard to tell directions without any mountains
-The ward choir is actually super fun; and even those who can't sing well can join and feel musically talented
-Auctions are way cool and auctioneers can talk crazy fast
-Bringing cookies to primary is the only way to get control over 4-5 year olds
-Tornado shelters under your house are very spooky looking (and the perfect spider breeding grounds)
-Joining the craft club, cooking club, and sewing club, have made me feel like a true "grown up" but they are so fun, it's worth it to feel old.
-People in the Midwest are so friendly and outgoing
-Watching Kev go from playing BYU volleyball to intramural volleyball is quite entertaining.
-All though it may feel like it, brains don't actually explode when you study ALL DAY! (that was Kev's input)
-And lastly, life is good, the church is true no matter where you go, there are awesome people outside of Utah (I know crazy right), we miss our family and friends SO much but we're loving this adventure we're on together.

Oh and my boss was upset she hadn't made it onto my blog yet so here's a little shout out to Patty. Patty is the definition of a party animal. She does the funnest/craziest things and invites us to go boating with her basically everyday. Thanks again for everything.

Me, Jen, and Patty out on the lake.

Patty is so hard core. She ski's at like 60 mph. Seriously!

  2. Glad you guys are finding your little niche! If you think Amish people are funny in Walmart, try seeing them all crowd into McDonalds on their discounted ice cream cone days. So weird.... and, honestly, a little smelly too.

  3. That's awesome you're joining the kid club! And that you're getting some outside of Utah time, two things I'm a fan of. I'm really excited for you guys and am looking forward to the future posts. Way to get accepted to your program, Kev, I'm proud of ya, son! :) Also, Mindy, when I met you at Pres. Craig's house that one time way long ago for like, .2 seconds, that's all the time I needed to approve of you. You're adorable, almost as adorable as Kev was at the beginning of his mission (during the Evans era, of course ;) ).

  5. YES! Mindy dedicated a post to the Midwest! It's like my dream come true. I actually love the sound of cicadas (one of the weird things that growing up in the Midwest will make you love). And amen to the farmer's markets, legit yard sales, lakes and nice people. The Midwest is amazing and I know you'd probably rather be where I am...but I'd rather be where you are :) The grass is always greener on the other side. Love and miss you!
